This is the second no-spend day in a row.
It is a cold rather gray day--a good day to stay home, by the fire.
Tonight, we will have "breakfast" for dinner. I have a lot of (sale) ham, eggs, and homemade oatmeal bread for toast. To me, it is "comfort" food, and is also appealing because it is so easy to prepare.
My change is adding up, and I should be able to deposit another $50.00 in my ING account next week. I'm getting about $50.00 a month interest there, so that is helping the emergency fund.
Does anyone know how much aluminum cans bring, per pound, these days? DS has a lot of them to give me to recycle.
Another no-spend day

Thanks for your comments on my blog. I live in the furthest NE region and we have no large stores like Sams nearby - but after reading your comments, my husband and I decided to go for a drive today to a Sams which is an hour away from here.

Regarding Sam's, Costco, etc. Just be careful to stay away from all of the convenience foods available. We purchase "cases" of 12 cans of Hunts tomato sauce and paste, at great prices, yeast, blocks of cheese, and a five pound bag of shredded cheddar/jack cheese, five pound bags of pepperoni, and a few other things. Cereal, and many food items are not cheaper, if you buy it with coupons, at loss leader prices, in a grocery store. You can save, at membership warehouses, if you are selective.
We also purchase the huge rolls of plastic wrap. If you divide your bulk purchases as soon as you get them home, double wrap and put in freezer bags, they will keep beautifully in the freezer. White cheese freezes well. It doesn't crumble like yellow cheese does.
A large roll of plastic wrap can last years.
Have you read the "Complete Tightwad Gazette"? It is rather dated, but has great ideas for saving money, lots of recipes, and ideas on frugal living.
Good luck in your pursuit to become debt free!

I think the secret to these stores is to only buy what you normally buy and use their coupons that they have at the door for your normal products. Unfortunatley, my husband is a smoker - HE NEEDS TO QUIT FOR HE BUDGET -
he saved $20.00 on a carton - he is on a pill now that is suppose to help his stop and I told him if he stops he can put $35 a week in his savings weekly for our vacation some day.
